Neuropsychological Evaluations

A neuropsychological evaluation is a comprehensive assessment designed to understand how the brain is functioning and how it impacts thinking, learning, emotions, and daily life. Conducted by a licensed neuropsychologist, this evaluation uses scientifically validated tests to examine areas such as attention, memory, language, problem‑solving, executive functioning, processing speed, and emotional functioning.

The purpose of a neuropsychological evaluation is not just to identify what is difficult, but why. By examining patterns of cognitive strengths and weaknesses, the evaluation helps clarify diagnoses, explain changes in functioning, and differentiate between neurological, developmental, psychological, or medical causes of symptoms. This level of detail allows for a more accurate and meaningful understanding than symptoms alone.

Neuropsychological evaluations are commonly used to assess concerns related to ADHD, learning differences, concussion or brain injury, mood and anxiety disorders, executive‑function challenges, cognitive changes related to medical conditions, cognitive changes related to aging, or unexplained difficulties at work or school. The process typically includes a detailed clinical interview, standardized testing, and a personalized feedback session.

Results are translated into practical, individualized recommendations that can guide treatment, therapy, academic or workplace accommodations, and everyday strategies. Whether the goal is diagnostic clarity, treatment planning, or performance optimization, a neuropsychological evaluation provides a roadmap for targeted support and informed next steps.

Psychological Treatment

The Center offers a more individualized approach to therapy Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Embedded Cognitive Remediation.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with embedded cognitive remediation integrates evidence‑based psychotherapy with targeted neurocognitive skill‑building to help patients achieve meaningful, lasting change. Guided by neuropsychological expertise, treatment is highly individualized and informed by each patient’s unique cognitive profile derived from Neuropsychological Evaluation. This approach goes beyond talk therapy by addressing not only emotional symptoms, but also the cognitive factors—such as attention, memory, and executive functioning—that can directly impact daily functioning and treatment success.
Cognitive‑remediation strategies are seamlessly incorporated into therapy sessions and welcomes support family members and/or significant others into sessions. Patients learn compensatory strategies targeting their unique areas of neurocognitive difficulty while simultaneously applying CBT techniques to manage stress, anxiety, mood symptoms, and unhelpful thinking patterns. This integration allows patients to engage more fully in therapy and translate insights into real‑world results—at work, school, and home.
By strengthening both cognitive and emotional reserves, CBT with embedded cognitive remediation helps patients build confidence, improve functioning, and create sustainable change—not just symptom relief, but greater control over how they think, feel, and function.

Research

OUR RESEARCH focuses on creating a path towards mental and cognitive health accessibility for children, adolescents & adults. Dr. Vyas has developed a cost-effective and efficient tool, the Vyas Questionnaire (VQ©) that has demonstrated good model validity, item specificity and sensitivity in pilot analysis. The VQ© has the potential to bring greater awareness to patients and physicians, school systems, and community organizations with the potential for greater equity, cost savings, better educational/employment outcomes, suicide/homicide mitigation, and happiness. Please contact our office directly if you would like to learn more about this project.
